Friend Request (2016) aka Unfriend

Hey Creepy Crew!

I'm currently typing this on my mobile on a 2 hour trip to Manchester to see friends.

This post as you can probably tell from the title is about the movie Friend Request.

*quickly watches to see whether what I gleaned from the trailer was anything like the movie*

OK so I was right with some of my ideas about the movie, and it was VERY jumpy. The part where I shouted f*ck in the trailer video scared me AGAIN watching the film 

As you probably know, I watch scary movies a lot, and this is the first movie in a while which has made me do my 'scary movie avoidance tactics' which include...

* Turning the sound waaaay down
* Hiding behind my hands
* trying to distract myself at the tense bits and rewinding to see the scares

I'm pants, I know.

I'm not going to spoil this movie for you, I think you should watch it!

On saying that - there are a few things I would like to mention.

1. The trailer in no way prepared me for the actual story - I thought it was more of a stalker type movie and it does start out seeming that way... but then it morphs into awesome.

2. The special effects were really good, and looked 'natural' rather than excessively gory for a bigger reaction; which of course really added to the believability of the story.

3. The ending wasn't what I expected. If you have seen this movie drop me a line and we can chat about it.

4. The jump scares are frickin' RIFE. The problem is, you know they are coming, but they don't come from the traditional 'jump scare' places.

5. I am loving this 'trend' of setting these movies in the now, and using something as popular as social media to enhance the scares. I need to find some more of these and check them out!

All in all, I'd give this movie an 8/10 and if you like something a bit different then definitely give this one a try!
